The signature Colonia fragrance has been around for nearly a century and is still as fresh and inviting as the day it was conceived.

Origins

The original fragrance was created in a small perfume factory in the centre of Parma’s historic old town. The year was 1916. In this cultural epicentre master perfumers, highly skilled in their art, created an uncommonly light, fresh and crisp fragrance that was entirely distinguished from the strong, heavy perfumes of the period.

Acqua di Parma Colonia found immediate success within notable circles and it continued to offer a point of distinction against other fragrances throughout the last century. The now historic Colonia became a much sought after object within a tight circle of high society devotees, whilst true connoisseurs have continued to appreciate the refined alchemy.

In 1993, Acqua di Parma re launched under the guidance and ownership of three established and highly successful businessmen: Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, President of Ferrari, Diego Della Valle, owner of Tod’s S.p.A. the luxury leather goods group and Paolo Borgomanero, shareholder of the La Perla Group.

These three scions of Italian luxury goods, united in their personal appreciation for the classic Acqua di Parma Colonia fragrance and the determination to prevent the small, but exceptionally high quality historic brand being pushed aside by the fade for designer brands and transient fashions.

Today

Since then, Acqua di Parma has grown and blossomed producing a number of different ranges; including new and interesting interpretations of the classic Colonia to the effervescent Blu Mediterraneo – inspired by the natural beauty and landscapes of the Italian Mediterranean.

Each new range and scent forming a new and sculpted tessera in the mosaic of Acqua di Parma, contributing to an ever richer, more complete image. Acqua di Parma is a lifestyle, characterized by quintessentially Italian taste and elegance, echoed around the world by this now historic brand.

Today, Acqua di Parma’s headquarters are in Milan and all of its collections are produced exclusively in Italy.
